How is overtime calculated in Finnish construction?
Hours over 8 in a day are daily overtime: the first two at +50 %, the rest at +100 %. Hours over 40 in a week that are not already daily overtime are weekly overtime: the first 8 at +50 %, then +100 %. No hour is counted twice.
Does Sunday work get both the Sunday and the overtime premium?
Yes. Sunday work is paid +100 %, and Sunday hours count towards daily and weekly overtime like any other day. A 10-hour Sunday is 8 hours at double pay and 2 hours at two and a half times pay.
Which days are paid like Sunday?
Church holidays, May Day and Independence Day, and under the collective agreement Midsummer Eve and Christmas Eve. Easter Saturday is +50 % on up to 8 hours. The calculator recognises the days automatically.
Are my hours stored?
No. The hours are sent to our server to be calculated with the same rules as Qypärä's payroll, and the answer comes straight back. Nothing is stored. Your name and site never leave your device.
What if my working time is averaged?
The calculator assumes ordinary 8 h / 40 h working time. If your hours are agreed as an average over a period, the overtime limit is counted over that period and this calculator does not fit it as is.
